A big thank you from the organising committee and from me to all members who attended the conference in Wellington – your support was much appreciated. To achieve 91 attendees, a handful more than 2008, in these recessed economic conditions was testament to the programme, speakers and content which all scored highly in the ratings from feedback.
While the weather was somewhat disappointing, in particular for the golf event, the feedback overall has been extremely positive and confirmed that the Board’s objective to ‘lift the bar’ on the 2008 event was achieved. Your ratings from the questionnaire scored overall at 1.50 (1 being excellent, 5 being poor) which is significantly better than the 1.66 achieved for the previous conference. I do hope that we delivered on your expectations and you met my challenge to take back to your clubs at least a handful of ideas to consider or implement.
For those of you that were unable to attend the AGM at the conclusion of the conference, I can advise that the 2012 venue will be Christchurch with Rod Latham and his team in the South Island branch agreeing to take on the organisation. Most members felt that a change of city was due and that it would help to grow the membership in that region with the distance from Auckland not really being an issue with inexpensive airfares now being available between those two cities.

Congratulations on a fine conference. There was not a bad word to be had from anyone that I spoke to over the two days. The quality of speakers was outstanding and I am sure that everyone was able to take away something from it. If they didn’t then they must know everything.
The choice of David Fordham as MC was a great one and the number of exhibitors reflected the importance that they place on the Golf Managers Association.
You and your Wellington team have created a hard act to follow but we will endeavour to make the next one as successful as this one was.
